Journal Entry#2: You Will Always Hear More of the Station You are Tuned To

This post will share another journal entry from long ago that has much to teach us many years later. My reading practice that day loaned this quote to me: "You will always hear more of the station (thoughts) you are tuned to."  The reflection that followed in my journal was a conversation with myself. When I look at the pages prior to and after this entry, I see that I was struggling with the terms of a relationship I now know was built by a person who was using me for their own advancement. At the time of this writing, I was working to detach myself from that person who was not only unhealthy for me, but worse. They were causing me to not be myself as I was instead burying who I was so that they could stand on the pile of me to claim their glory. When I read these words, I am incredibly proud of younger Donna who was working so hard to dig her way out and be whole again. These words are still true today however, and I thought you might also like to wade in their wisdom.

Journal Entry: "Whatever thoughts you focus on will be magnified and multiplied. Be careful today, and in the coming weeks, to focus on the good and positive frequencies. Maybe tune out of social media sites where much of your negative focus comes from. If you are tired of seeing people celebrate themselves, turn off the channels through which they do that. You don't need to be on there. Stay humble in your own mind and heart. Your battle is with yourself. Becoming a better me today than I was yesterday does not require anyone else. Nor is it reliant on recognition. Those who need that, or live in that, are not on your frequency. Let them have their moments but you don't need to be part of it. Celebrate their victories if you want. or not. That is up to you. Humility has always been a work in progress, and I've been given opportunities to melt into it. My heart must accept and learn to love the background, backstage; find my comfort there and allow the spotlight to shine on those who seek it. Their happiness relies on that place. You don't look favorably on that, so let it go. Let them be happy there, even as their ticket to get there was written by you and others like you."

So often we allow our thoughts to go to frequencies that are not helpful, and inevitably our energy will follow. I challenge you to come with me as we change the frequency we allow into our minds so that we can stop putting energy where it is useless and even detrimental to our well-being and personal growth.

As is so often my way, I take what I am working on and carry it into my classroom. As such, I have one final thought for you.  Perhaps when students struggle with exuding negative behavior, we need to help them change their mental frequency instead of focusing solely on changing of their physical behavior. If they are able to control the thoughts they allow into their minds, their energy and behavior will follow suit. I am always, ALWAYS, amazed that the very things I need to work on are parallel to the work my students have to do. How beautiful it is that we are all works in progress!  Let's help change the frequencies together so we can all, adults and students, continue to grow into the beautiful masterpieces we were meant to be!
